As the inaugural international conference on water and the environment, ICSDWE 2018 was successfully held in Shenyang, China, on January 18-19, 2018. Water and environment are at the core of sustainable development and are critical for socio-economic development, healthy ecosystems and for human survival itself. They are vital for reducing the global burden of disease and improving the health, welfare and productivity of populations. They are central to the production and preservation of a host of benefits and services for people. The event aimed to provide an ideal academic platform for researchers and scholars from around the world to present, share, and exchange their latest findings on water and the environment. ICSDWE 2018 not only achieved its goals and objectives but exceeded them. We would like to extend our sincere thanks to all participants for their support and contributions.
